Our honey bee farm lies in the Upper Tiber Valley, in Tuscany, not far from Umbria and Le Marche, in the middle of marvellous natural landscape. The laboratory is built in a portion of an new building, surrounded by many cultivated fields and very close to the Tiber River.
Our firm has been organic for 20 years and was among the first organic companies in Italy. Thanks to the firm’s founder, Marco Valentini, we pursue natural beekeeping using Warrè and Top Bar hives (in our experimental apiary). In this way the bees inside the hives are free to build as they like, without the help of beeswax comb foundations.
For this reason we believe that the word “organic” means much more than a simple protocol to be followed, but also includes a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, where quality has to be far more important than quantity. We wrote our price list considering all the problems related to this socio-economic era in order to allow everyone to eat well without giving up quality, because we are what we eat.
We make our honey by “nomadism”. This practice consists in moving bees to areas where certain plants (acacia, sunflower, eucalyptus, chestnut, linden tree, etc.) dominate and are flowering but always far away from sources of pollution (highways, plants contaminated by herbicides or pesticides). The product is extracted by spinning, then it is filtered inside stainless steel tanks, after which it is ready to be bottled and tasted. Our honey is not subjected to any heating or transformations as these would cause a loss of flavour but most especially a loss of the organoleptic and healing properties of honey.
